About Me

Hi, I’m Richert Manjarres and welcome to my blog.  I started writing this blog because I wanted to share some of the background stories to some of the pictures I have taken here in The States, Latin America or in The Philippines.  More times than not, my friends have had questions or comments about the people or the places in them.  So, what better place to share than through this fabulous medium.  Please note that there are no lofty ambitions behind it – only the desire to meet and make new friends.

My friends and family call me Rich.  Hope you will too.

  2. Hi Richert, I was looking at your photos now and wanted to leave a comment under “near and far” and “nonno” photos, but it wasn’t possible :S. I wonder what happened…

    • Hi Paula..My apologies for the delay in responding to your comments today. I have been busy with a change of residence and then some business travels. Regarding your difficulty on commenting, I will look into this and see if it may be some settings on my blog that might not allow commenting after certain time has passed. You have a beautiful blog by the way. I love “Lost in Translation”.

  3. Hoi Rich! Thanks again for dropping by and the kind comments. Just curious.. are you from Latin America, the States or the Philippines? Keep up the nice work!

  9. Just found your blog as a result of you visiting mine. Thanks, there are some good photos, what equipment do you use, I have a Canon 50D and two lens one is a 100 to 400 telephoto which I also have a 1.4 converter for and the other is a smaller but good quality telephoto lens i think 28 to 125 or similar. I use extension rings quite a lot as I do not have a macro….. yet.

    • Hi Alan, you have some nice equipment there. I just started out on photography and use a Canon 600D / RebelT3i with the kit lenses it came with: an 18-55mm and a 75-300mm. As I become better, I would like to invest in my equipment. I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures.

      • It seems not to be possible for comments on “Mine”…So I have to comment here…
        Lovely post.
My eldest – my daughter – moved out this Sunday. My son is left to move next autumn, and it´s just as heartbreaking as I imagined.

      • Thank you for sharing with me. I can only imagine the solace and cannot bear to entertain the idea for more than a few minutes. I hope they aren’t moving far away and that, if they are, that there will be frequent communication amongst you. God bless and keep you always.

  10. Hi Rich, I was so happy to see your posts on Antigua! I spent one month there at a Spanish Academy, and although living there can be difficult at times, I found the town to be incredibly beautiful. Your pictures brought back many memories, thank you!

    • Thanks Emily. I’m glad they brought back pleasant memories for you. I will be back in Guatemala next week and hope to swing by Antigua once more. If i do, I will be sure to take new ones. Please swing by from time to time. 🙂

  11. Rich, your “About” picture is lovely. What beautiful surroundings! Is that a pink building in the background? And yes, I agree with your first post that the El Volcan del Agua picture is beautiful. I’m looking forward to your blog and your photography.

    • Hi Maddie, thank you very much for your kind words. The building in the background is very white but the floor, which is made up of reddish-brown tiles, reflects heavily on the walls and ceilings giving it that pinkish hue. It makes for such a nice contrast. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I welcome you to my blog and hope to not disappoint. 🙂

      Rich
